About Me

Hi! My name is Valeria Vera Lagos.

I am a Mexican Software Engineer, I obtained my Engineering degree in Information Technologies from BUAP University at Puebla México, Although I am originally from a small city “Pachuca” which is really close to Mexico City.

During my bachelor I researched to understand how violence towards women occurred in my country and how to automatically detect misogyny in Spanish language. I became passionate about modelling language to have a better understanding of how emotional violence occurs in México and how to prevent it. Overall, I am passionate about doing social analysis that could serve to reduce discrimination and provide a positive social impact.

Afterwards, I worked at Intel as a Software Developer on Machine Learning solutions to ensure Hardware quality. I collaborated on multiple Data Science projects for different Hardware aspects and although I was no expert, I enjoyed doing ML across different topics!

Besides data, tech, and equity, I enjoy dancing, trying new food and spending time with my closer ones!
